TRYING TO START A BAND...

i am trying to find a band. it is driving me crazy. for a minute i thought about trying to play guitar in a kiss cover band. it would have been make up and all. i have some options and i hope at least one works out. i tried jamming with some guys last week and from the first note that was played by the bassist i knew it wasnt going to be for me. at one point i was asked to play a funky riff. i put and add on craigslist and i named bands specifically in the style of music i would like to play and i got dudes that want to be the next primus. i guess you live and learn. i need to rock!!!!!!

Come one, come all!!!...

So I went to Ozzfest '07 and it was nothing less than a big hoosier fest. Teeth were optional at this years fest. There was plenty of metal and plenty of people that obviously stayed a little too close to their own gene pool. It was insanely hot so I only stayed for a couple of hours. There were people there dressed from head to toe in black. I cant even fathom that. I guess I am just not metal enough. I did see a guy that was completely bald with only sideburns and that's pretty sweet. I only watched like 3 bands. I had to get out of the heat or my sunburn would be way worse.
1. Nile-Egyptian death metal. Pretty sweet if you ask me. The best part is that the singer doesn’t drop the death metal or "cookie monster vocals" even when he is just speaking to the crowd.
2. Chthonic-Asian black metal. They were okay. They sound a little like Cradle of Filth.
3. 3 inches of blood-awesome. I love this band. Watch this video and understand why…

so i watched a little of wsopc last night on vh1. i didn't think i would get bummed out but i did. i kills me because i know we would have done awesome on the show. the first category was celebrity feuds, which kelli would have ruled at and the second was horror movies which i got all of them right. so lame. oh well just needed to bitch.

RATS!!!!!!!!!!

thanks dan z. i went and saw Clutch last night. it was pretty awesome. i hadnt seen them in probably 10 years. they played for a little over two hours and played something from almost every album. there were quite a few jam sessions. their drummer rules. so good!!!!!

i am no longer doing a reunion with my old band. basically due to the fact that our drummer refuses to grow up.

on a better note though i am working on starting a band or two. i am going to start playing with a couple of guys this weekend and playing drums in that. next week i will be getting together with another guy and i will be playing guitar in that. so needless to say i am stoked on playing music again.

a few quick things...

i am doing a reunion show with my old band. its a benefit for a friend of our singer. he was stabbed and has a ton of medical bills. it is on march 23rd at the ground floor in belleville. there are a ton of other bands playing.

i am getting a new tattoo thursday. i am super stoked because it is pretty awesome. i will try and post a pic friday.

i am talking to a guy about starting a band. hopefully this works out because i am sick of people being flaky. the guy wants to start a band like isis, pelican, mastodon, as well as a few other bands.

this weekend ruled. here is a summary...

friday-meghan finally got home from texas. we went to lemmongrass for lunch. later that night we did some running and went and saw talladega nights. i thought the movie ruled. ali g stole the movie though.

saturday-got up and didnt do much. watched the x games. we went to the couples shower that meggie set up. it was pretty awesome. bbq, washers, monkey balls, and good friends. i drank way too much. after the shower meghan, dan, adam, and i went to trivia night that kelli set up. my team was adam, dan, and myself. we were the champagne of trivia. we won which ruled. i got to show off my superior knowledge of 80's metal. after trivia we went to south city diner and had fried egg sandwiches....and then comes sunday morning.

sunday-woke up not feeling so good. recall saturday where i drank too much. threw up and felt much better. watched more xgames, grocery store, and flavor of love 2. which is probably the best thing to happen to sunday nights since the sopranos isn't on.

soooooooooo. i never write in this. here we go...10 things going on...

1. the wedding is now only 5 months away. i wish it was here now.
2. hawaii will rule.
3. meghan is still the greatest thing to ever happen to me.
4. i really need to learn bmx.
5. the world cup rules, as does fifa 05 on playstation 2.

pretty good weekend. friday consisted of friends, muppets, and one pissed off kid. we had our xmas get together with the shumates. we watched the ali g movie, ate dinner, and opened gifts. i got the muppet show dvds. it is so awesome. saturday we got up and i went xmas shopping. it was so busy out i thought i would kill somebody. i met up with meghan and her mom for lunch at buffalo wild wings and it ruled as always. i got home and hung out with meghan for a while and then we went to dinner. we went to anthoninos. it was so good. after dinner we went to emily's for her xmas party. we didnt wear xmas sweaters and were the odd men out. the party was a good time. karaoke was in full effect...sir mix alot, naughty by nature, vanilla ice, sinatra. i had to tell a story about my brother and his ex girlfriend twice. luckily its a good story. i had an awesome time minus the gross beer i bought. sunday we slept in, cleaned, and went to the store. thanks to bush's speech i missed half of the family guy. sucks. oh well.

this weekend i went with meghan and her mom to kentucky. i had a blast. i mostly hung out with her cousins and her cousin's boyfriend.
i cant wait for the next weekend already. i feel like i didnt even have a weekend. oh well. this weekend will be fun. xmas party with the shumates on friday and another xmas party on saturday at emily and shannons. this should be a blast.
i need to start a band soon. i am feeling like i need to be creative. so if anyone reads this and lives in the stl and is over 21 holla at me. i am willing to play just about any type of music. i play guitar and drums.
